Early History – 1950 to 1990’s

The eldest of two sons born to prominent Russian Politburo member, Yuri Petrovsky, Pavel followed in his father’s footsteps by entering the Russian Army’s officer corps when he was eighteen.  With his “victory at any price” mentality and cunning military sense, Petrovsky won many battles with special forces attacks along the Chinese Border and in Afghanistan, quickly rising through the ranks.    

On a secret mission in East Germany in 1987, Petrovsky and his team of Spetznaz soldiers battled against separatists who were planning a terrorist attack in East Berlin.  When his men assaulted the facility where the enemy was hiding, they came into contact with an unknown biological agent which turned most of his soldiers into blood-crazed monsters.  While leading a defensive perimeter in an attempt to stop the creatures from spreading, Petrovsky was wounded when one of his infected men attacked him and scared his face.  Only he and a handful of his troop survived the attack, but the day marked a turning point in his career.  He realized that if new biological weapons such as those could produce such powerful creatures, then Russia should be the one to control it.

Umbrella and Wesker – 1990’s to 2009

After being promoted to the rank of General, Petrovsky became the driving force for new biological research in developing weapons of mass destruction.  With his father’s connections, the Russian President and Politburo authorized the creation of the “Red October” bio-weapons research base in the Caucasus Mountains.  There, he and his team attempted to duplicate the results of the horrific encounter back in East Germany without success.

Eventually the KGB discovered that the manufacturer of the biological weapon Petrovsky and his men had encountered was a pharmaceutical conglomerate known as “Umbrella”.  In an effort to infiltrate their organization, he sent his second-in-command, Colonel Sergei Vladimir to approach Umbrella executives about setting up a facility within a nearby abandoned chemical plant in the Caucasus Mountains.  Vladimir was successful and began sending detailed plans back to the Red October facility.

Around the time of the Raccoon City incident, Vladimir eventually betrayed Petrovsky and joined the ranks of Umbrella’s founder, Oswell Spencer.  While hunting down his former protégé, Petrovsky became aware that another agent, Albert Wesker, was also fighting against Umbrella and its hierarchy.  A deal was eventually struck between the two.  With Vladimir eliminated and the biological research recovered from the Red Queen, Petrovsky provided safe haven for Wesker within Russia and the two became work associates.

The Path to Power – 2009 to Present

After Wesker’s death in Africa in 2009, Petrovsky continued with his nation’s biological research despite deep budget cuts as a result of economic sanctions by the West.  With his influence, he managed to reinstate Svetlana Belikova back into power within the Eastern Slav Republic thus giving his country a much-needed ally.  In return, Belikova gave Petrovsky access to a new and terrifying biological weapon she had obtained from a secret laboratory inside America – Ambrosia.

Now armed with a new and deadly weapon, Petrovsky saw the path to his nation’s return as a superpower was at hand.  In a secret plan with the Russian government, Petrovksky and his men were dispatched into the Abkhazia region of the Republic of Georgia as a vanguard to set up field tests for Ambrosia.  With the help of their Abkhazia allies, their mission was to destabilize the rest of the country, leaving it vulnerable.  Once this was accomplished… then the Russian Army could begin the invasion of the entire region.
